Has anyone read this series? I was just wondering if it is at all decent; or typical Fundy, die and fry propaganda. I've glanced through a book called 'Raputre Culture' and judging by that, 'Left Behind' is more likely the latter.

I have read many of them... not the last two or three though... yep it is die and fry type stuff. Not really a good read but there.

Seriously they are a bad as you think they will be.

Lol, that's hilarious. So let me guess, all the non-believers are portrayed as self-righteous, arrogant know-it-alls who are really insecure cowards because they haven't accepted Jesus as their personal savior! Ha! Who does the anti-Christ turn out to be? An evil evolutionist-Hindu-Mormon-Homosexual?

Better yet! A Catholic!

This whole series turned out 12 books that even most Christians admit being badly written and money grubbing. We've also got B-movie adaptations, sound tracks, etc. There's even a "Left Behind" series for children as well.

Better still, the Pope!

I've never heard it being badly written, but it wouldn't surprise me. So's the Bible. Both of these have a hardcore fan base and a sales chart that goes through the roof.

The non believers in the series are seen as prideful and pitiful. I read through to The Indwelling (7th) before I got sick of it. I didn't even like the last few books, I just wanted to see who was going to die.

I couldn't make it through the first 50 pages - aside from being paranoid narrow-minded cruelty wrapped up in feel-good self-righteous claptrap, the writing was more hackneyed and tired than a Harlequin romance novel.

And that's the charitable version of my opinion.

I couldn't get through the first one.

I couldn't get through reading the blurb on the back of the book. I believe I ran screaming from the Xian bookstore that day.

Not that this is at all unusual for me....

This is one dead horse I can't stop beating. When I strolled the teen section at the bookstore I stumbled across the "kiddie" version of Left Behind. There are 36 books in this series!!

what the hell were you doing in a Christian bookstore in the first place????? Don't you know that stuff spreads like a virus.

They are a creepy place to be in. You would think a faith that's supposed to be based on humility and charity wouldn't spawn such an expensive store! I was in search of a Mel Gibson nail necklace to deface, but found nothing but a woodland camouflage bible cover that was marked down. I intended to use it to tote a role-playing book, and it was quite ironic for the saleswoman to ask me point blank, "you got something to put in this already?"

LOL, I walked into a Christian bookstore once without realizing what it was. Was looking for a couple old Terry Brooks books, and I kept thinking as I walked thru different aisles "this must be their crap discount section, now where do they keep the real books."

That's just because they take the plot from one Left Behind book, split it into four tiny books, and show it from the POV of a couple of kids. It's just a way to make more money while talkin down to youth........ "we don't think youre smart enough to read a book that's more than 150 pages!!!!"
