I was driving into work while talking on the cell phone (I have a headset, so don't even start), and my grandmother who I was talking to read a bumper sticker that she had just seen. It said:
QUOTE
God made diversity, Man made Bigotry. Which one do you trust?

Oh my goodness . . . can you imagine the stupidity required to put this on your car? Alrighty, so god made diversity and then ordered anyone who was different to be slaughtered, or later to burn in hell. Hmmm. Let's not mention that just about every major case of bigotry is rooted in religious ideology.

I get spun up on a regular basis by Bumper Stickers, anyone else have some good examples?

Well, it's not a bumper sticker, but the other day I saw a T-shirt some guy was wearing that was just kill-me-now pathetic. On one side was written in big, bold, flaming red letters "FEAR GOD!" and on the other in smaller, flowery, lovey-dovey gentle white script was written "Love Jesus".

Although on Jay Leno the other night I saw a headline that just had me rolling. "Diversity Convention cancelled because of gay speaker." I'm not sure wether the striking irony is more tragic or hilarious.

The most recent one I've seen has a background of an near full term baby ultrasound with the lettering: "WOMAN! Behold your son."

I'd put this on my car if I could find it in print

Go http://sblomberg.com/cbs/ for some "Christian Bumper Stickers."

Make sure you have your sound turned up.

I almost ruined my keyboard shooting soda out of my nose.

One I saw was "In case of rapture, this car will be empty." Rather arrogant, eh? Wonder if that means I can have his car. Mine's about to go kabut sometime soon (even the windshield wipers refuse to work.)

Well, I have seen a few "In case of rapture, can I have your car?" bumper stickers.

well, i can't recall seeing to many bumper stickers. the sticker,i hate was this one" if you are looking for jesus and haven't found him yet,who do you think is lost" i loathe those bumper stickers. i hate the fact that they can have any xtian propaganda on their cars, and they don't have to worry about the sticker being ripped off. i,on the other hand can have my sticker and have my car potentially scratched up.

TD,

I assume your new avatar is aiming at a cat?

Bumper stickers... looks like the only "xian" bumper stickers here in Germany are variations of the well-known fish. White, rainbow-colored, or what-have-you. Not too nice, but bearable.

Somehow, when I read this my right arm wants to raise itself against my will, and my mouth yearns to shout "Sieg Heil".

(Oh well, I had one single "attack" on my car, back in '90 when I had just started studying computer science. I still had two stickers on my car with Federal Forces motives... one was the emblem of my maintenance batallion, the other the then-slogan of our forces "Eine starke Truppe" (A strong troop, literally). Within one week, someone stabbed one of my tires. Fortunately, just one.
I removed the telling slogan and never again had problems. Looks like the leftist fanatics among the students had no idea what that emblem could be. )

Christian bumper stickers aren't seen too much in Australia, at least not where I live.

One sticker (not a Christian one) that I always liked read

QUOTE
DON'T STEAL, THE GOVERNMENT HATES COMPETITION

I'd like to see a few more like that.

It's easy shadfox!
Here is what you must do:
go to www.cafepress.com and create a store.

Step 1. You can put that on a bumpersticker as a product to sell!
Step 2. Buy.
Repeat step 2

The christian bumper stickers around here lately are mostly the same old pro-life type stuff, the jesus fish thing, oh, and the t-shirt logo I don't appreciate: when he was on the cross, you were on his mind, and then one about..oh well, lots of fundies around here wearing all kinds of t-shirts - hard to remember all of the stuff they say ... BUT...

I HAVE NOTICED RECENTLY A FEW MORE "DARWIN" TYPE STICKERS - I SAW THE DARWIN FISH - IT'S ADORABLE - IT'S LIKE A FISH WITH FEET. I THINK I AM GOING TO GET A DARWIN FISH.

ALSO - I SAW A BUMPER STICKER AT A PARK MY DAUGHTER AND I WENT TO ON A CAR NEXT TO US - THEY HAD SEVERAL ON IT, AND ONE WAS A PICTURE OF JESUS WITH SHAVING CREAM AND IT JUST SAID

"JESUS SHAVES"

MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE READING ALL THE STICKERS - I WAS HOPING THE CAR OWNER WOULD SHOW UP BUT THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN - AND ALL OF A SUDDEN OTHER PEOPLE WERE STOPPING TO READ THE SAME STICKERS. SOME OF THEM DIDN'T LIKE 'EM TOO MUCH. IT HAD ONE ON THERE ABOUT THE WAR IN IRAQ TOO.

IT WAS AN INTERESTING READ!

HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE BUMPER STICKERS ON YOUR CARS? WHAT DO THEY SAY? MINE ARE FROM THE FFRF SO FAR - CHURCH/STATE, KEEP 'EM SEPARATE AND LOVE (OR IS IT HONOR?) THY FIRST AMENDMENT. SOMETIMES I GET CONCERNED ABOUT THE KINDS OF REACTION THIS WILL HAVE BUT THIS IS AMERICA.

I don't have one, yet. I'm thinking about looking for some nice Asatru or Asatru-like motives, like the Troth emblem I use as avatar, or a sticker a friend of mine showed me recently but did not use yet - "Odín statt Jesus!" (Odin instead of jesus).
Or I will just take some red tape and paste some runes on my car. Raido (traveling) and Thurisaz (Thor and the giants) come to mind.

Posted by: TexasFreethinker Apr 28 2004, 01:54 AM
The bumper stickers that I hate are of the "America, Love it or leave it" variety.

What these idiots really are saying is "Agree with me or get out of the country".

There are things we ALL wish could be changed about our nation, but that doesn't mean we should be forced to move elsewhere. HOW STUPID. Democracies are meant to work this way - we all have the right to work to change what we don't like.

I'm sure many of the folks that display this type of sticker are unhappy with things such as legalized abortion or desegregation in the schools, but I don't see them packing their bags. Hypocrites.

On my car I have a "Last time we mixed politics with religion people got burnt at the stake" sticker, a celtic knot, and one of those American eagle decals to temper it out. My Evolve Fish emblem holding the wrench and the "Apes evolved from creationists" sticker are unapplied at this time

I just love the idea of that one.

As for me, I have a "Campus Crusade for Cuthulu -- IT Found Me!" sticker on my 'fridge (I had a marked lack of car at the time I got that sticker). Too bad that none of the Xtians I knew actualy read enough for them to realize the slam (most were in Campus Crusade).

As for stickers that get me steamed...can't say that any scream at me. Guess I am a bit thick skinned like that.

one that i've been seeing lately shows a picture of a man, a plus sign, a picture of a woman, an equal sign, and then the word MARRIAGE.

that one REALLY pisses me off.

Well the Passion billboards are what piss me off right now. Its like guys, there is no evidence for any of the Biblical Narratives, and they contradict each other, but Mel won't tell you that.

In the south you can get religious vanity plates, and that is what many people with vanity plates get. PraisnHim, and Letspray, and Jesuslves, ect ect. Those piss me off too. Why must they advertize so much guys? That is a question in my mind.

I used to before my orignal conversion have a Surf Naked bumper sticker, and I think I'll get another like that, once I have my car and not my ex's.

Posted by: Rameus Apr 28 2004, 03:11 PM
My car currently has:

"Belief is not wanting to know what is true."

"Christians call it faith, I call it the herd."

"One is not converted to Christianity, one must be morbid enough for it."

"Bush family values:" *with an oil well and a nuclear mushroom cloud*

The ones that really, really piss me off are the billboards with the messages from God.

"Don't make me come down there. -God"

Um... yeah... God's going to come down here and spank us all for not voting Republican or something? Sheesh.

Not that such a thing wouldn't be *fun,* but I don't think that's what billboard makers were thinking of...

There's a guy around where I work who has a fairly "evil" vanity plate. I won't share it here, but it is pretty interesting. He also has an "Athesit on Board" thingy.

I've always wanted to find/make a bumpersticker or tshirt that says [SIZE=7][B][COLOR=red]WWID? What would I do?

Posted by: PriorWorrier Apr 28 2004, 06:22 PM
On the back of a red Mercedes convertible... "Pray Hard!" Shades of Janis Joplin singing, "O lord won't you buy me a Mercedez Benz..."

My favorite though is "Why be born again? Why don't you just grow up?"

Posted by: Judyism Apr 28 2004, 06:59 PM
Amid the hippie band stickers, I have:

Bush: Like A Rock - only dumber

Religion Kills

It will be a great day when our schools have all the money they need and the Air Force has to have a bake sale to buy new bombers.

I Love My Country
It's the government that pisses me off

I see this one on BMW's and LEXUS's all the time.
[ never mind the car, my real treasure's in heaven ]

So my wife put a [ kids love satan ] sticker on our car.
Some woman came up to her in the parking lot and asked her about it. She told the lady it was a private joke, but a joke, nothing more. Later as my wife was at the checkout counter, the same lady came up and told her that she shouldn't have that sticker, because it could cause some good christian children to stumble. My wife told her that she hoped she was a good enough parent to teach her children not to base their life decisions off fucking bumper stickers.
